VARAŽDINSKI KOMORNI ORKESTAR osnovan je 1995. na inicijativu samih glazbenika, grupe građana te uz podršku poglavarstva grada Varaždina. Nakon što je dekretom ukinut rad kazališnog orkestra, Varaždin je tridesetak godina bio bez vlastitog orkestralnog ansambla. Tek se u samostalnoj Hrvatskoj ostvarila zamisao o orkestru kao trajnom i posebnom čimbeniku kulturnog života grada. Orkestar je do sada ostvario dvije sezone u svome gradu. Održao je i niz vrlo uspješnih gostovanja u Zagrebu, Zadru, Splitu, Osijeku i Frankfurtu. Za izniman doprinos 24. varaždinskim baroknim večerima orkestar je nagrađen Nagradom Ivan Lukačić te je u 1997. dobio Diplomu Milka Trnina koju dodjeljuje Hrvatsko društvo glazbenih umjetnika.

VARAŽDIN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA - was founded in 1995, on the initiative of the musicians, a group of citizens and with the support of the City Council. For over thirty years, Varaždin has had no orchestra ensemble of its own, since its activity had been banned by decree under the former government. Now, Croatia being independent, the orchestra has finally become an important and constant factor in the cultural life of Varaždin. During this two-year activity, it has performed successfully in Zagreb, Zadar, Split, Osijek and Frankfurt. For its great contribution to the 24th Varaždin Baroque Evenings, the orchestra has received the Ivan Lukačić Prize.
