ORKESTAR ZAGREBAČKOG GRADSKOG KAZALIŠTA KOMEDIJA osnovan je zajedno sa svojom matičnom kućom 1950. Nastao je za potrebe izvođenja glazbeno-scenskih djela kao što su operete, manje komične opere i musicali. Njegova povijest seže u doba kada je Julije Benešić uspio scenski oživjeti tzv. Streljanu na Tuškancu i stvoriti kazalište s pretežno operetnim repertoarom. Orkestar kao nedjeljiv dio Kazališta s njime dijeli brojne nagrade i priznanja dobivena tijekom godina uspješnog i priznatog rada.

THE ORCHESTRA OF THE ZAGREB CITY THEATRE KOMEDIJA was founded in 1950, at the same time as the theatre itself. It was assembled for the purpose of various musical and scenic performances, such as operettas, smaller musical comedies and operas. Its historic background reaches into the time when Julije Benešić managed to revive the so called Streljana on Tuškanac, forming a theatre with an operetta-based repertoire. As an imseparable part of the theatre, the Orchestra has shared many awards and acknowledgements during the years of succesful work.
